Zepbound Injection Pen FAQ
Common questions about Zepbound pen clicks and dosing
How do you use a Zepbound kwikpen?
The Zepbound pen is designed for simple once-weekly injections of tirzepatide. To use it, attach a new needle, select your prescribed dose if using a multi dose pen, clean the jab site with alcohol, insert the needle under the skin, and press the button until the dose is delivered. Most people inject in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Always follow the instructions provided with your device.
How do you inject Zepbound with the pen?
To inject medication, remove the pen cap and attach a sterile needle. After selecting the dose on a multidose pen, pinch the skin and insert the needle at a 90-degree angle. Press and hold the injection button until the full dose is delivered. Keep the needle in place for several seconds before removing it to ensure the GLP-1 medication from the pen is fully administered.
What injection sites can be used?
Recommended sites include the abdomen, thigh, and upper arm. Rotating shot sites each week helps reduce irritation and improves absorption. Avoid injecting into areas that are bruised, scarred, or tender.
What is the Zepbound 2.5 mg / 0.5 mL pen?
The 2.5 mg / 0.5 mL pen contains a starter dose of tirzepatide commonly prescribed during the first weeks of treatment. This dose allows the body to gradually adjust to the medication before increasing to higher strengths such as 5 mg, 7.5 mg, or more depending on the treatment plan.
Can you split doses?
Some users discuss dose splitting, where they attempt to deliver partial doses from a higher-strength pen. However, dose splitting is not an approved method and may lead to inaccurate dosing. The GLP-1 medication is intended to be used according to the manufacturer's dosing instructions unless otherwise directed by a healthcare professional.
How do you remove the needle from a pen?
After injecting, carefully unscrew the needle and dispose of it safely in a sharps container. Never reuse needles, as this increases the risk of infection and dull needles.
How should you store it?
Your Zepbound pen should be stored in the refrigerator before and after use. Avoid freezing the medication or exposing it to direct heat or sunlight.
